The General Health Insurance (GSS) offered by the Social Security Institution is a state-sponsored program that our university recommends due to its comprehensive coverage. In addition to GSS, students have the option to pursue private health insurance if they prefer. It is important to note that if you choose private health insurance, you will need to ensure that your insurance policy is renewed regularly to maintain coverage.
To obtain a GSS, you must apply via e-government within three months after obtaining your foreigner identification number (YKN) and the registration date (first university registration). To apply for GSS, follow the steps below:
Students must apply for GSS within three months of their registration; otherwise, they will lose their eligibility for this benefit. It’s important not to overlook this process.
However, if a student changes their department, program, or stage of study (such as transferring from a bachelor’s program to a master’s program), they will have the opportunity to apply for GSS again.
